Health and Safety
Our priority is to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of our employees, the general public and our customers.
Safety is our business
We manage all of our projects in accordance with the most demanding health and safety procedures, using project managers who are highly trained to comply with industry safety standards and provide a safe environment for our customers, the public and our employees. Our Occupational Health and Safety Management System is certified to OHSAS 18001:2007.
We place significant emphasis on the use of safe systems of work, utilising method statements and risk assessments to effectively control the hazards on site and we have invested heavily in training all of our employees to critically evaluate work situations and environments, in order to manage hazards and risks.
We actively encourage ‘near miss’ reporting from our employees and subcontractors for incidents that could have led to an accident, as we believe that near miss reporting leads to a greater focus on accident prevention and ultimately a reduction in the number of accidents.
All of our operational employees are provided with a full set of our personal and protective equipment (PPE) and the correct tools and equipment to enable them to complete their work activities.
We have a proactive internal auditing system for monitoring safety practices. Our project managers and supervisors perform regular formal site safety audits on all staff followed by feedback sessions to demonstrate areas of improvement and strength.
Our commitment to health and safety
Through our approach to health and safety management, we have focused our employees on managing their own safety, and that of their colleagues and the wider public, and we believe that we have developed a culture where our team members understand that health and safety is our core priority.
We recognise that we can only achieve exceptional health and safety performance if we remain fully committed, aim high and set strict targets. We have therefore set a target of zero safety incidents for the current year.
